History

The club was first formed in 1906, however through lack of funds and grounds it was dissolved at the end of the 1907/1908 season.

At the beginning of the 1910/1911 season under the guidance of the late William O Driscoll it surfaced again only to disband three seasons later at the outbreak of the First World War, rugby was suspended.

Tragically during that war quite a number of Club members were killed in the conflict.

The present Club was reactivated in 1923 under the Presidency of John K. Kelleher, William O Driscoll was Honorary Treasurer, Jerh. McAuliffe, Honorary Secretary and Michael Dwane who later became Honorary Treasurer of Bective Rangers acted as his assistant.

Grounds

The club progresses to rented grounds at Houndsditch , Clogheen, the Mental Hospital Grounds, near Victoria Cross and then they acquired a ground at Shanakiel, the committee and dressing rooms were in a building at the foot of Shanakiel Hill.

During the 1941/1942 season, the Club moved to its current home in Musgrave Park.

In 1960 the present Clubhouse was opened with the extension being added on in 1981.
