Sundays Well (16) vs Tralee (9)

Musgrave Park, 14:30PM

The Minors advanced to the semi finals of the J-2 Cup with a home win against a much fancied Tralee side.
The elements played a big part in the game with the wind making it the proverbial game of two halves.
Tralee with the wind on their backs dominated the first halve and went into the break 9-3 up.

The change around saw the wind assisted home side pin Tralee into their 22 for the first twenty minutes of the second half. However, the 'Well spurned a number of kick able penalties to take the lead much to the frustration of the sizable home crowd watching. Eventually the 'Well were rewarded for their efforts when Willie McCarthy crashed over from a well worked catch and driving line out. Niall Horgan was unlucky with the conversion leaving the 'Well trailing by a single point 8-9.

Again the 'Well pushed forward through some fine interplay between backs and forwards only to have the last pass go to ground or have it turned over. The 'Well were awarded a glorious opportunity to go ahead but a rush of blood by Hoggy led to another turnover. With 12 minutes to go Willie McCarthy again proved his athleticism with another break from the back of a driving line out.

The last ten minutes were a nervy affair with Tralee throwing everything at the 'Well, the home side at this stage believing that they had done enough had for the first time in the game taken their foot off the gas which nearly proved faithful.

The next round is at home against Cobh Pirates who will be up for it coming off their L-2 Cup win.
