Sunday's Well lost the U19 Cup final by the narrowest of margins last Tuesday night in Mugrave park. The Well took the game to Crosshaven form the start when Paul Quill scored a great try to open the scoring. Dave O Gorman kicked two penalties to leave the score 11-16 at half time. The Well came with all guns blazing in the second half and big prop Jack O Connell scored a great try which Dave O Gorman converted, leaving the Well ahead by two points. However, Crosshaven replied with a try and a conversion of their own and also got a penalty leaving it 26-18. However, the Well scored next with a great try form Ian Ryan which Dave O Gorman converted from a difficult angle leaving it 26-25. The Well continued to press hard with Eoin Philpott scoring a great drop goal to leave the score 28-26 in favor of Sundays Well, with two minutes remaining on the clock. However, the Well were to be denied a victory in the final play of the game, when Crosshaven were awarded a penalty form a difficult angle which their international number 10, who had played outstanding slotted it over! The final score stood at a shattering 28-29. In what was of little conciliation to the Well, all those present agreed that it was one of the most exciting underage finals in recent times.
On behalf of Ken, Sean, Nick and Alec, we would like to thank all the players for their hard work over the season and hope to see you all back in the Well for a new season in Septemebre!
